Este comité establecerá los estándares para el uso de los datos y las tecnologías relacionadas en los sistemas agroalimentarios.
Pulverizadores Fede, a renowned leader in the development and manufacturing of sprayers and digital solutions for protecting and managing specialty crop plantations, supports the Spanish Delegation UNE CTN 335 – Data-driven agrifood systems to the ISO/TC 347 Technical Committee.
The work of ISO/TC 347 focuses on establishing standards for data and related technologies in agri-food systems, enabling seamless decision-making in a global landscape. Fede’s support for ISO/TC 347 aligns with its vision of facilitating farmers’ adoption of new digital solutions by unifying concepts and enhancing interoperability between technologies and services. The goal is to maximize data utilization to improve profitability and sustainability.
As such, Dr. Lars T. Berger (Head of Technology) participated as part of the Spanish delegation in the 3rd ISO/TC 347 Plenary Session, held from March 10–13. This initiative aims to define standards in key areas such as agrisemantics, data utilization, sustainability models, metrics, and data management. The scope also includes integrated pest management, traceability, and other data-related concerns in agrifood value chains.
LIFE-AIs Project and its relevance to ISO/TC 347
Fede’s support of ISO/TC 347 reinforces Fede´s commitment to innovation in the specialty crops sector, particularly in the standardization of data-driven decision-making processes.
Currently, the EU LIFE-AIs project (101074540 — LIFE21-ENV-ES-Life-AIs) is defining and developing data structures and APIs for cloud interoperability, particularly in agricultural Fleet Management Systems (FMS) and Farm Management Information Systems (FMIS).
Therewith, the LIFE-AIs project directly links to the global standardization effort to shape the future of precision agriculture, ensuring that agrifood systems are more sustainable, efficient, and interconnected.
About the ISO/TC 347 Data-Driven Agrifood Systems Technical Committee
The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) brings together experts from 173 countries to develop international standards aimed at ensuring the quality, safety, and efficiency of products and services. ISO standards help companies establish uniformity and quality levels applied to management, service delivery, and product development in the industry.
The ISO/TC 347 Data-Driven Agrifood Systems Technical Committee, established in 2023, operates under the DIN (German Institute for Standardization) Secretariat. Its key representatives include: Mrs Dr Sophie Oberländer-Hayn (Committee Manager), Mr Rafael Andres Ferreyra (Chairperson until end 2029), Mr David Hassan (ISO Technical Programme Manager [TPM]), and Mrs Martha Casantosan (ISO Editorial Manager [EM]).
